Automotive Service Advisor

Community Automotive Repair started in 1975 and has developed into one of the preferred independent shops in the greater Grand Rapids area. As a Service Advisor you can expect to work with customers daily to meet their needs for vehicle repairs and services. We focus on imports like Audi, Volkswagen, Volvo, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, Mini, Land Rover, BMW, Porsche, and more.

Your level of expertise and compensation depend on performance. Starting wage is dependent on experience.

General responsibilities and expectations:

  • Provide phenomenal customer service.
  • Communicate with customers on status of vehicle and services/repairs needed. 
  • Answer phones, set appointments, write repair orders, track repairs from start to finish, order parts, coordinate repairs with technician and shop, finalize invoice, and complete customer vehicle pick up.
  • Committed to ethics and integrity. 
  • Must have or quickly gain industry knowledge to be able to inform customers of vehicle needs.
  • Always professional, both in person and on the telephone.  
  • Well-organized and committed to the automotive service industry.
  • Focus on continuous improvement.
  • Team focused, willing to pitch in and help in other areas of business as needed.

Schedule:

  • 5 day work week, 7:00am – 5:30pm
  • NO Saturdays or Sundays; we prioritize great pay without cutting into family or personal time.

Level I Service Advisor

  • Experience 0-2 years Customer service or sales equivalent.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in explaining general automotive services & repairs to customers (oil, tires, fluids, maintenance items, brakes, steering/suspension, basic diagnostic Level I baseline assessments, cooling systems, and similar work).
  • Completed Elite Pro Service Sales Master University (within 2 years of employment).
  • Carries workload of about 20-32% any given week while hitting scorecard measurables.
  • Some of the time, receives support from other S/As to stay on track with goals.

Base wage: $40,000 - $55,000 annual salary.

Annual commissions dependent on performance: Typical range $9,000 - $16,000

 

Level II Service Advisor

  • Able to perform all level I criteria.
  • Experienced sales and customer service representative capable of handling about 30 repair orders at any given time with minimal assistance.
  • Completes research using all available automotive databases
  • Able to scan vehicles, ride with customers to identify noise complaints, and solve simple customer concerns with their vehicles.
  • Experienced in handling repair orders with all levels of technicians and complexity regarding services and repairs (transmission, engine, timing components, drive train, clutch, and similar work).
  • 2-5 years of professional automotive service advising experience.
  • ASE service consultant certification preferred.
  • Carries workload of about 33%-40% any given week while hitting scorecard measurables.
  • Most of the time is able to complete their individual work with little help from other S/As to stay on track with goals.

Base wage: $55,000 - $65,000 annual salary.

Annual commissions dependent on performance: Typical range $14,000 - $21,000

 

Level III Service Advisor

  • Able to perform all level II criteria.
  • Helps other Service advisors and assists in training.
  • Experienced sales and customer service representative capable of handling 33-50% or more of workload at any given time while hitting scorecard measurables.
  • Experienced with in-depth testing and complex repairs and services.
  • Advanced or specialized experience in automotive repair service advising.
  • Helps with workflow in absence of service manager.
  • 5-plus years of professional automotive service advising experience.
  • Handles warranty discrepancies and customer complaints with full resolve.

Base wage: $65,000 - $75,000 annual salary.

Annual commissions dependent on performance: Typical range $14,000 - $21,000
